Guideline for Reviewers
Review process and reviewer information for the Journal of the Institute of Bankers, Bangladesh.
Reviewers play an important role in maintaining the academic quality, credibility, and integrity of the Journal. Their expert evaluation helps ensure that published articles are relevant, original, well-structured, and valuable to readers in the fields of banking, finance, insurance, trade, and the broader economy.
Reviewers are expected to provide fair, objective, timely, and constructive comments that help editors make informed publication decisions and help authors improve the quality of their work.
Role of the Reviewer
Reviewers assess the originality, relevance, analytical quality, structure, clarity, use of evidence, and overall contribution of submitted manuscripts.
Expected Standard
Reviews should be professional, unbiased, confidential, and respectful. Comments should focus on the quality of the work and not on the individual author.
Review Process
- A manuscript is assigned for review based on the reviewer’s subject knowledge and expertise.
- The reviewer examines the submission for relevance, originality, analytical depth, structure, references, and contribution to the discipline.
- The reviewer provides comments, suggestions, and observations in a clear and constructive manner.
- The reviewer may recommend acceptance, revision, resubmission, or rejection, depending on the quality and suitability of the manuscript.
- The editorial authority considers the reviewer’s comments before making the final publication decision.
Reviewer Responsibilities
- Maintain confidentiality of the manuscript and the review process.
- Provide comments within the expected review period.
- Identify strengths, weaknesses, and areas for improvement in the manuscript.
- Point out issues relating to clarity, methodology, data use, references, and presentation where applicable.
- Avoid personal remarks and provide evidence-based academic comments.
- Inform the editor if there is any conflict of interest or inability to review the manuscript objectively.
Confidentiality
All manuscripts under review should be treated as confidential documents. They must not be shared, discussed, or used for personal or professional advantage.
Conflict of Interest
Reviewers should disclose any conflict of interest that may affect their impartiality and should decline the review if an objective assessment is not possible.
Reviewer Information
Professionals interested in serving as reviewers are encouraged to communicate with the Editor or the Institute directly.
Review assignments are generally made on the basis of academic background, professional expertise, and subject relevance.
